Patent Agent

Charlie is experienced in many aspects of patent preparation and prosecution, including in the biotech, chemical arts, as well as in materials science and in various aspects of semiconductor device, fabrication, and design. He assists clients with prior art searching and analysis, developing strategies for identifying and protecting IP, portfolio development and management, assisting in the development of claim interpretation positions in support of infringement/validity investigations, drafting applications and responding to Office Actions. Charlie has been registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office since 2013 and was a technical specialist before becoming a patent agent.

Prior to entering the patent field, Charlie was a Postdoctoral Fellow in The Lineberger Cancer Center and the Human Gene Therapy Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a research scientist for a start-up biotechnology company in the Research Triangle Park. Charlie is the primary and co-author of several publications in the fields of bio-organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, and molecular virology.
