Intellectual Property Paralegal / Legal Assistant (Patent Prosecution)

Job Description

Stanek Lemon Crouse + Meeks is seeking a full-time Intellectual Property Paralegal or Legal Assistant specializing in patent prosecution. While on-site presence in Raleigh, NC, is preferred, remote work will be considered for the right candidate who demonstrates suitability for a remote setting. Remote work not available in Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Washington, Wyoming, and possibly other states.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support one or more attorneys by managing their dockets and assisting with day-to-day tasks to ensure the smooth operation of their practice.
  • Prepare and submit patent and trademark applications and subsequent prosecution documents (e.g., Responses to Missing Parts, Responses to Office Actions, Issue Fee payments) with the USPTO.
  • Prepare and submit PCT and national phase patent applications.
  • Prepare and submit information disclosure statements for U.S. patent applications.
  • Draft client and foreign associate communications, patent applications, and trademark applications and prosecution submissions.
  • Communicate with foreign associates and non-US patent offices.
  • Coordinate annuity and maintenance fee payments with the USPTO and foreign associates or patent offices.
  • Use software such as NetDocuments, DocketTrak, TimeSolv, Adobe Pro, and Microsoft Office.


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, with specific experience in patent docketing and prosecution.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptability to changing duties as requested.
  • Strong communication skills and proactive approach to work.
  • For remote candidates:
    • Reliable high-speed internet connection.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote setting.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay: $35.00 – $42.00 per hour, depending on experience.

: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. Preferred schedule falls between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM ET.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
