Patent Agent

Charlie is experienced in many aspects of patent preparation and prosecution, including the biotech and chemical arts, as well as materials science and various aspects of semiconductor device fabrication and design. He assists clients with prior art searching and analysis, developing strategies for identifying and protecting intellectual property, portfolio development and management, assisting in the development of claim interpretation positions in support of infringement and validity investigations, drafting applications, and responding to Office Actions.

Charlie has been registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office since 2013 and worked as a technical specialist before becoming a patent agent.

Prior to entering the patent field, Charlie was a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Lineberger Cancer Center and the Human Gene Therapy Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a research scientist for a start-up biotechnology company in the Research Triangle Park. He is the primary and co-author of several publications in the fields of bio-organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, and molecular virology.
